Sue spoke a few words about our President Vicky’s very recent bereavement.

Sue thanked all those who brought scarves and jewellery for the recycling stall. Thanks went also to Mary Murray who had been busy making beautiful fabric bags for the stall.
3 Gwent Federation business and financial business – none
4. Green Hearts Award – Liz and Jane
We are so far only WI to take part. Liz has been approached for advice from Gwent HQ
Jane has contacted Torfaen, has joined ‘Torfaen litter Champions, contacted Keep Wales Tidy. We can borrow equipment from several venues. Jane asked members to indicate litter hot spots. Shirley mentioned the area near Cricket Club . A clip board was sent around and and 6 members put their name down.
Harriet and Shirley asked Jane to contact the Community Council about placing a bin near the Cricket Club and a sign as well asking people not to drop litter. Shirley also pointed out that the bin by the Bus Stop gets used by cars pulling in and by people posting letterss and if often overflowing .
5. Due to small numbers the session planned for October with chef Stewart Hill has been cancelled.
6. Sue handed over to Liz Morrish to speak about a possible 20th October day trip. Clip board: to be paid at October meeting.
7. Arrangements for Harvest meeting: Members should bring a contribution to the buffet table,.Sue asked for a show of hands as to whether we pay for the bar to be opened and this was agreed. Members need to bring cutlery

Afternoon Book club meeting 3rd October at Liz Morrish’s “The Secret Ingredient”.
Evening Book Sue thanked Alison for the lovely July meeting – very much appreciated with lovely weather and beautiful pizza. Next Club 7.30 p.m. at Jude’s “Unbroken”
Reading Between the Wines: will inform members of meeting at end of September………………………………………………………………
Craft ……a very busy time –Helena spoke about Community Grant..of £150 pounds which is in our coffers and will be distributed via the Treasurer Vicky…Next meeting is at the Baptist Chapel on 15th September & pm to 9pm. . Helena welcomed any new member or indeed anybody who would like to join. Diane makes up starter packs for £5…
Lunch groups: Tuesday 23rd September at The Ship, having had splendid meals at the Ponthir House Inn and the Gate in July and August. Thursday Club;At the Upper Cocks Inn on 4th September ………………………………………….

AOB Jane said that Aileen had brought 6 hats with her for Seafarers and janr e pointed out that she had now made 61 hats .Jane asked for those he wanted to to start knitting again this Autumn/Winter . The Rev Noys had been very very grateful for our contributions
