Ponthir W.I. Zoomers

Monday 2nd November

Tonight was a very exciting night on Zoom as we had our very first speaker on Zoom – Liz Morris from Dorset, who spoke about her life , living with her two autistic sons. We all enjoyed her talk and power point. A great opportunity to hear speakers from outside our local area.

Monday 5th October

This evening we had a scavenger hunt, with members running all over their houses to find the things they needed. First back had two points, with one point awarded to everyine who managed to find the correct object. The objects included a cuddly toy, the latest edition of W.I. Life, a book, a wooden spoon, an egg, a face mask and many more. A fun evening with a lot of exercise.

Monday 6th April

As a result of the Lock Down, ten members of Ponthir W.I. used their technology skills and met together for a pleasant chat on zoom.

Monday 13th April

Our second meeting on zoom. This time there were thirteen of us. Vicky led the meeting and we all talked about something new we had done during the Lock Down, which involved learning new skills, communicating with family members in new ways.

Monday 20th April

Tonight we had a smart hat competition which was won by Gill. Then we had a quiz, questions by Gill and Alison B.

We have continued to hold Zoom meetings every Monday evening with a variety of entertainment, including quizzes, Ponthir W.I. ‘s version of Countdown, poetry reading and Keep Fit.

Monday 6th July

Today was our 60th anniversary. Our celebrations had to be cancelled. Next year we will celebrate our 61st anniversary. Instead of a party we met together on Zoom to toast Ponthir W.I. and remember the 1960’s when Ponthir W.I. started. We had a toast to Ponthir and sand Happy Birthday ( not so easy on Zoom!!!).

We are very proud of one member – Marjorie Houghton who has been a member of Ponthir W.I. for the sixty years! What an amazing achievement . Well done Marjorie.
